First Stainless Steel Exhibition in Mumbai

Ministry of Steel of India take steps to ensure India is future-ready and a net exporter, says Rasika Chaube – Additional Steel Secretary during the inauguration of the Global Stainless Steel Expo in Mumbai

The three-day Global Stainless Steel Expo (GSSE) 2022 kicked off at Jio World Centre, BKC in Mumbai on Tuesday. It is the world’s first and only stainless steel event organized to promote the interest of the stainless steel industry. More than 500 companies from all over the world participated in the event. The exhibition was opened by Steel Additional Secretary, Rasika Chaube, in the presence of MD Abhyuday Jindal of Jindal Stainless Limited, Chairman of Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA), KK Pahuja, and the Executive Director of SAIL’s Saleem Steel Plant, Sanjeev Taneja. The additional secretary launched a 2047 vision document at the event. In her address, the official urged industry participants to take steps to make India a net exporter. She also said that the Ministry of Steel is taking several steps to increase the use of steel and stainless steel in the country.

According to the Vision 2047 document, the demand for stainless steel is expected to increase by 19.5-21% to reach 3.7-3.9 MT in FY 2022, due to a weak base, a stable macroeconomic environment and normalized public expenditure. According to industrialist Abhyuday Jindal, the ministry has taken various measures to advance the steel industry, such as the launch of the National Steel Policy 2017, emphasis on scrap metal recycling, control orders quality, etc He went on to say that the industry looks forward to the Ministry of Steel’s continued support in realizing the 2047 stainless steel vision.
The Indian stainless steel industry has sufficient capacity. KK Pahuja said the stainless steel industry is committed to playing its part in nation building by providing sustainable solutions in various sectors.

GSSE 2022 will also have Outokumpu, Ratnamani, Laxcon Steel and Minox Metal as Gold Partners. The exhibition is supported by Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) as lead association, Pegasus Consulting as knowledge partner, Stainless Bazaar as digital partner, Manufacturers Association of Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes (SSPTMA), Stainless Steel & Metal Merchants Association (MASSMA), All India Stainless Steel Industries Association (AISSIA), Stainless Steel Merchants Association (SSMA), Process Plant & Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) and Non-Ferrous Metals Association-Karnataka (N’MAK).

The exhibition will be organized with adequate security measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Commenting on the event, Anitha Raghunath, Director of Virgo Communications and Exhibitions said, “India is a leading country for the global steel industry, leading the way and setting an example for others. As such, he needed a dedicated focal point to explore business development opportunities, get expert insights, and most importantly, get reliable information in a “hands-on” format.
