Naupada: Cementing the government’s vision of sustainable and modern infrastructure, Jindal Stainless has supplied stainless steel for the first-ever stainless steel Pedestrian Bridge (FOB) inaugurated today in Naupada, the salt bowl of Andhra Pradesh . With this, the company launched its most cost effective and premium quality stainless steel for structural applications – Jindal Durasafe. This state-of-the-art FOB was jointly unveiled at a ceremony by the Divisional Director of Railways (DRM), Waltair Division, East Coast Railways, Mr. Anup Kumar Satpathy, along with senior management of Jindal Stainless , including the director, Mr. Tarun Khulbe and the head of sales. , Mr. Rajeev Garg.

Taking note of this milestone, Jindal Stainless Managing Director, Mr. Abhyuday Jindal said, “This pedestrian bridge ushers in an era of sustainable stainless steel infrastructure and Jindal Stainless is proud to partner with the railways for this. major challenge. We are committed to providing tailor-made, corrosion-free and eco-friendly solutions for Indian climatic conditions, and enhancing the Atmanirbhar spirit of the Indian stainless steel industry.

I commend the government and Indian Railways for their visionary decision-making. Welcoming this achievement, DRM, Waltair Division, East Coast Railways, Mr. Anup Kumar Satpathy said, “India’s coastal railway infrastructure has long been marred by corrosion. We commend Jindal Stainless for developing the optimum quality of stainless steel to meet the challenge. The RDSO approval of the grade reinforces our confidence in this choice. We look forward to bolstering India’s railway infrastructure with sustainable choices in the future as well.

In 2019, Indian Railways solicited proposals for renewal of FOBs in coastal areas, which were marred by a corrosion-prone environment, rising pollution levels and negligible maintenance, across all railway divisions. Jindal Stainless has developed the most cost effective and highest quality stainless steel for structural applications – Jindal Durasafe, especially for coastal areas. The grade, IRS 350 CR, contains 10-12% chromium, a key ingredient in the fight against corrosion, and has been designed for zero maintenance, approximately 100 year life and life cycle cost and a reduced carbon footprint.

It comes in the form of plates, beams and channels. The company collaborated with RDSO (Research Designs & Standards Organization) and IIT Roorkee for testing, approval and quality approval, which ultimately led to its formalization for coastal rail infrastructure applications.

Jindal Stainless met all stainless steel requirements for the Naupada project, supplying 140 MT. The company implemented the overall fabrication and installation of this FOB project in nearly 5 months in coordination with Indian Railways and trusted manufacturers.

Leveraging over 50 years of industry experience, the company has actively provided technical support, cost-effective stainless steel fabrication techniques like saw welding and spray painting, and served as bridge between Railways, RDSO and policy makers to develop tailor-made solutions for the Indian Railways.

In the past, Jindal Stainless has supplied high quality bespoke stainless steel products to Indian Railways for the development of LHB coaches, wagons, metros and other railway infrastructure applications. The company has recently started supplying stainless steel for the development of metro cars for the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) Kanpur Metro project. This project will include the design and development of 201 cars, each car consuming approximately 9-10 metric tons of stainless steel to be supplied by Jindal Stainless.
