TEX-ISLE AN INDUSTRY LEADING MANUFACTURER OF LOW CARBON STEEL PIPE

0

The assessment, carried out by Cornerstone, finds that Tex-Isle’s sourcing of low-carbon steel and adoption of best practices, including the use of recycled steel, the use of furnace technology electric arc, almost 100% fully electric installations and the proximity of its raw material suppliers and its customers, position the company as one of the most efficient in the industry.

Thanks to Tex-Isle’s investments as a supplier of low-carbon steel products, the company’s emissions performance significantly exceeds the industry average. Specifically, in 2019 the average CO2 emissions for steel production were 1.85 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of raw steel cast.[1]. In comparison, the emissions associated with the final steel product that Tex-Isle delivered to its customers in 2019 range from ~0.7 to ~1.0 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of pipe produced. The steel used for Tex-Isle products was 0.46 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of steel.

The results reflect Tex-Isle’s recognition of the need to establish baseline performance, conduct continuous monitoring and constantly seek opportunities to implement improvements to the company’s environmental profile in its efforts to be a leading manufacturer of steel pipe products fabricated and cast in America.

With the imminent opening of its new 350,000 ton per annum steel tube mill in Robstown, Texas, Tex-Isle will soon be manufacturing green, environmentally friendly steel tubing in an otherwise traditionally carbon-intensive manufacturing process. Its environmental performance also benefits from its proximity to its rolled steel supplier and oil and gas customers along the Gulf Coast.

“Tex-Isle has built facilities that produce one of the most environmentally friendly products in the industry,” said Tex-Isle President. Chris Kayem. “This assessment confirms that we are exactly on track to be a leader in industry-wide efforts for greater ESG management. This reflects our forward-thinking mentality of giving our customers what they need before they ask for it. It is not just a report that we publish and move forward. This is a starting point from which we will consistently apply downward pressure on our carbon footprint every day. “

“The third-party assessment we conducted shows that Tex-Isle is already one of the top performers in the steel pipe coating, processing and threading industry and is well on its way to becoming a leader. a leader in manufacturing when its steel tube mill comes on stream,” mentioned Jack Belcher, Director at Cornerstone. “Tex-Isle’s commitment to sustainability, including the use of recycled steel and clean electricity, enables Tex-Isle to provide a product that will help its customers achieve their ESG goals.”
