Alloy steels contain a wide range of steels including compositions which exceed the limits of Si, Va, Cr, Ni, Mo, Mn, B and C assigned to carbon steels. Compared to carbon steels, alloy steels are much more sensitive to mechanical and heat treatments.

Alloy steels include elements such as chromium, cobalt, nickel. These steels can be used in specific melting and deoxidation processes for particular types of applications.
