Pegoretti adds disc option to its Round and Responsorium stainless steel frames

Developed as a natural extension of the Pegoretti design language, the disc options maintain the clean lines and compelling ride characteristics the brand is known for, while introducing new dropouts and a disc-specific version of the famous Falz fork.

“Naturally, we are asked quite regularly to make a model of a disc brake,†said Pietro Piercola, co-CEO of Officina Pegoretti. “But adding a disk option isn’t something we wanted to rush. First of all, we had to wait for the brake systems to mature to the point of meeting our safety and design standards. And then we had to think about how we could create a disc frame that still had the look, feel and drive of a Pegoretti, and make the best use of technology.

With years of experience as CEO of Brooks England, Pietro co-CEO Cristina Würdig has long observed the trend in the bicycle industry to push new technology, often for the wrong reasons. “Let’s just say it’s unusual for a brand to take their time and not release something just to see better numbers, or be the new thing on the block,†Cristina said. “And, of course, it’s not Pegoretti. So we have been collecting feedback and following developments in the market closely, and have spent the past two years developing a disc option for our Round and Responsorium stainless steel models that best exemplifies the spirit of Pegoretti.

The people of Pegoretti

Built to the flat mount standard, Pegoretti disc brake frames feature newly designed brake dropouts, a redesigned rear triangle, an English standard bottom bracket to provide space to house the rear brake cable and more in particular, a new version of the Pegoretti Falz fork which features the same slightly curved design as its rim brake cousin. As Pietro explains, keeping the Falz fork design was of the utmost importance. “We originally developed the Falz rim brake because there was nothing on the market that was up to the task or sleek enough to complement our frames. So, when designing the Falz disc brake, we took care to maintain the same fluid design aesthetic, despite the blades being reinforced.

Disc options are priced to match the rim brake editions of the Tower and Responsibility executives. Those interested can inquire and order a Pegoretti equipped with a disc from today.
